We've had a really hard week. I've been very unwell and have had to spend quite a lot of time in bed or on the couch. I'm afraid Violet has been the one to suffer. My brother has come around several times to take her to the park and for walks but a lot of her time has been spent stuck indoors without much stimulation from me. I'm feeling a little better now, though getting slammed with a cold right at the end of it has been a bit of a bummer, so we wanted to really make our weekend together about getting out and having fun with Violet. We took her into the city to buy her some new shoes to run around in as she seems to have hidden the left shoe of the only pair that still fits her and that she doesn't manage to pull off in under a minute. I can only assume that the missing shoe ended up in the rubbish bin (her favourite place to put non-rubbish items) and was not retrieved before the bin went out because we have searched high and low for that damn shoe to no avail. We let her run around Myer playing with the displayed-for-play train sets, skip her afternoon nap- she hates to nap with a passion and even eat some hot chips (fries) which was a real treat. We had to go to the farmers market so we bought her lots of nice fruit to snack on.

This day, yesterday, was a beautiful sunny day and not too cold considering it is winter so lots of people were out walking their dogs in the park. I'm not sure when or how Violet became obsessed with dogs, considering we don't own one and neither do our friends, but she is so into them! Whenever she sees one she grins, laughs and makes 'dog noises' that sound like "wooowooowooo" or "wooooooooooo". One of the dog owners had three sausage dogs and stopped to let us play with them. I'm not sure I've ever seen Violet so happy. She didn't pat them, actually she was backed up as hard as she could into my legs but she was smiling so wide and 'woowoowoo'ing. As they walked away she chased them all the way down the path before Rob had to run after her to bring her back before she went out of sight. It was so cute. We're not ready for a dog of our own yet but I can't wait until she asks for one and gets to pick it out. After that we went to our favourite winter place, the indoor play centre so that Rob and Violet could have some bonding time. We love this place so much, it costs $7 per child for as long as you want to stay, adults are free and they have a full cafe with tables and chairs. We ordered some lunch, I settled in with a book and Rob and Violet went off to play for hours. Rob has been getting home after bed time a lot recently as well as doing photo shoots on the weekends and Violet has developed real distress every time he leaves in the morning. It's gotten to the point that if he leaves the room on the weekend she will scream and cry until he comes back. I think it was very important for them to spend time together just the two of them yesterday. She didn't cry when he left this morning.

  1. Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well! I know it really takes a toll when you feel like you can't give 100% to your little one, on top of being sick. Glad you're feeling a little better!
